From EduInnoTICs, education, innovation, and TICs, we are promoting research at all levels of education, active methodologies, learning spaces, and ICT, and recently we have incorporated the relationship of the aforementioned with sustainability. Without any doubt, claiming functional and sustainable spaces for lessons taught, both inside and outside buildings, is an issue of relevance in the XXI century. These features are not linked with economic needs or large financial investments in infrastructures, but with energy savings, recycling issues, better educational practices, and convergence to the 2030 Agenda. This Special Issue, entitled Educational spaces and Sustainability, aims to bring together multidisciplinary views from professionals working in education and school design and architecture. Our intention is to create a forum to share and comment on achievements and practices that take into account space in order to achieve sustainability goals and promote active, sustainable education, especially in public schools in Spain. We claim for the contributions of a large scope of professionals such as architects that have worked or will work on the design of educational spaces, teachers of all educational levels with specific spatial needs, and educational leaders involved in the improvement of quality education and school infraestructures from the point of view of the SDGs of 2030 Agenda, as well as all those researchers with original ideas on how to improve social and civic education in schools, high schools, and Universities from the perspective of transforming learning spaces and the sustainability issues these imply. We encourage all these professionals to participate in this Special Issue, in order to provide modern society with a useful guide on how to create and/or transform educational spaces in order to encourage active sustainable educational practices, and consequently improve the social conscience of our future citizens on sustainability.
